RST Introduction
- The Fundamental Flaws of Biomechanical Research of the Golf SwingA tremendous amount of research has been done in the field of the biomechanics of the golf swing over the past 10 years, but it is fundamentally flawed in one key area: The vast majority of popularized study, if not all, has been based on what top golfers do in their golf swing, NOT what is biomechanically ideal.
- RST Overview - Perfect Golf SwingAt last, a complete overview of the simplicity of the Rotary Swing Tour, from setup to the follow through. This video presents a roadmap of the swing covering setup and Moves 1-4. Each of the key checkpoints in the RST swing are covered and highlighted throughout the video filmed on the beautiful and famous first tee box at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado. I've worked hard with a number of body experts over many years to put together the simplest, most powerful and efficient way to swing the golf club, and for the first time ever, you're going to see it all put together in one video, enjoy!
- Push vs. Pull in the Golf SwingWhen looking at the rotary nature of the golf swing, it's important to understand the physics at work and the concepts of centripetal and centrifugal force. This video discusses the concept of a "Push vs. a Pull" in the golf swing and how important it to rotating around your spine and staying centered. For golfers who have never been able to get their back to the target in the backswing, understanding this concept will completely change the way you swing the golf club, especially if you thought you did not have the necessary flexibility to make a full turn. We have a little secret for you, 99% of all golfers have more than enough flexibility to make a complete shoulder turn, they just don't know how.
- Sean O'HairIf you're looking for PGA Tour players who emulate the Rotary Swing Tour golf swing, few do it better than Tiger Woods and Sean O'Hair, both of whom are featured in this video. When you slow their two golf swings down, it is amazing to see the similarities of the two golfers even though at speed they make look quite different. Both golfers do many great things in their golf swing, but you will also see a few things in here that can be improved upon that will make them better players.
- Using the CoreUsing a side by side face on view of Tiger Woods with a driver and a recent swing of mine with a driver, you can begin to see the similarities in movement.
- Properly Activating MusclesThe golf swing works in a very specific sequence. First, a thought, conscious or unconscious, occurs. This sends a message to contract a muscle. The muscle contraction moves a bone and this, in turn, moves the golf club. The contraction of the muscle is what Al is discussing in this video. For many, this is a confusing topic. Some make the muscle activation like a workout and some don't engage enough and some literally can't engage certain muscles. Al covers how to properly engage muscles in the swing and provides some exercises and visuals to help you understand how the muscles should properly engage during the swing.

- Wide-Narrow-Wide Swing ShapeEvery single PGA Pro swings wide-narrow-wide. Often, though, when this typical shape of the swing is discussed, the conversation ends at “you want a wide-to-narrow golf swing.” However, it’s crucial you ensure you finish by getting wide again!
RST Setup
- Golf Setup - PostureThere is one fundamental in golf that is ignored by more golfers than any other, and interestingly, it's the easiest one to get correct. Every golfer wonders to himself why he doesn't look the same at address as Tiger Woods or other greats. After all, they are just standing still, right? It seems that if nowhere else, that is the ONE place in the swing where everyone can be just like Tiger! However, there has been a lot of confusing information in the golf world that has lead to the incorrect belief that there is no one way to setup and everyone should look different. Nothing could be further from the truth.
- Swing Faults Caused by Poor Golf SetupIn this video, Al Consoli will expand on the video Biomechanically Correct Setup and Balance and will walk you through the most common pitfalls he has observed when the weight is not properly distributed at address.
- Problems Caused by Poor Ball PositionAl Consoli talks about many of the common problems created by having a bad ball position at address. So many golfers have the ball much too far back in their stance, and this inhibits weight shift and a proper energy transfer from the lower body.
- The "Gorilla" Golf GripThe "Gorilla" Grip is what I refer to when instructors teach their students to grip the club how their arms "naturally" hang; ie. if your palms naturally face your thighs when standing upright, you should have a strong grip. This myth can't die fast enough.
By Chuck Quinton - Finding True BalanceFinding proper balance is a key fundamental to a sound golf swing. This video talks about how to find true balance and gives you a drill to help you setup balanced every time.
- Connect to Your Core - Get in BoxThis video gives you a drill to get connected to your core and "in the box." It is imperative for power transfer from the big muscles in your body and for good posture to prevent injury.
- Hinging From the HipHow do you determine the proper spine angle at address? This video shows you how and talks about hinging properly from the hip.
- Anchor to the GroundDo the outside of your shoes bulge at address? Then you need to learn to get anchored at address for hip stability throughout the swing.
- Hip Bump / Axis TiltThe last key piece to understand how to get setup properly is to get the proper amount of axis tilt at address. The hip bump in this video will help you do just that.
- 5 Minutes to the Perfect Golf SetupThe follow along video to teach you the perfet setup in only 5 minutes. This video includes a program to follow at the end that will have you setting up to the perfectly everytime in the shortest amount of time possible.

- Proper Ball PositionThe answer to whether the ball position should be a constant or moved from club to club.
- Stance Too WideOne of the most common problems with the setup, here's what happens when your stance is too wide.
- Determining Proper Stance WidthDo you think your stance width is based on the width of your shoulders? Think again...
- RST Golf Grip Effect on Swing PlaneHaving a proper grip is crucial for club face control and lag in the golf swing. In this video I talk about the proper grip's effect on club position and plane. If you want to know more about the grip in depth, pick up a copy of RST Level 1 Certification Manual.
- Importance of Axis Tilt at SetupThe importance of axis tilt at address can not be overstated. It significantly impacts the position of the top of the swing in numerous ways as you will see from this video and article.
- Right Elbow PitDo you struggle, like most golfers, with a flying right elbow at the top of the backswing. From this position, you have to make some aggressive moves with the arms to get the elbow back in front of the body at impact or make other compensations. Learning how to set up correctly with the trailing arm elbow in the right position at address and how it most rotate properly going back will teach you how to avoid a takeaway that is too flat, inside and around and deep top of the swing position.
- Driver Setup AdjustmentsHow to set up for the driver is something that I get asked all the time. All the golf magazines and pundits on TV talking about how you should tee it high and set up with the ball way forward in your stance, so it must be correct, right? Well, sort of...Find out how to make the necessary setup adjustments for the driver with the Rotary Swing Tour.
- The Golf Grip - How ToMuch has been written on the importance of a good grip over the years, Ben Hogan devoted 17 pages to it in his book "Five Fundamentals", making it seem to many that it is some magical, mystical secret of the swing. But over the years teaching countless golfers I've learned a couple things. One, grips come in all shapes and sizes and can still be effective. And two, a sound grip is important, but very easy to achieve. In this video I show you the details of getting a good grip on the club that allows the hands to seemlessly work together as a unit, regardless of your swing type. From there, you can adjust for your natural tendencies and what works best for your swing and desired ball flight.
- How to Aim in GolfIf you don't know how to aim in golf, your RST mechanics won't matter. Find out how you can master alignment.
- Golf Swing Balance and RhythmWith great balance and great rhythm in the golf swing, we can get away with a lot! We can make improper motions — not have the perfect angles with our arms, our elbows or our knees or whatever we’re working on — and still hit some fantastic shots. Without good balance and rhythm in the golf swing, even if we have perfect technique, we’re still gonna hit bad shots.
RST Weight Shift
- Understanding Weight Shift Part 1Using our Science and Motion (SAM) Balance Lab, we can pin point weight shift and weight distribution of golfers in real time. In this video, use the Balance Lab to show how simple it is to transfer weight for an increase in power of around 14% according to some research. The key is that weight shift is completely natural, and in fact, as you will see in the video, to NOT shift your weight will not only feel unnaturaly but leave you feeling powerless as well.
- Weight Shift Part 2 - Right Hip LineIn this second video on understanding weight shift in the golf swing, I discuss specifcally the "right hip line" and how understanding what it is will help you understand how the weight shift and hips work in the golf swing. For many golfers, they will find that this simple video helps them understand why they've always struggled with getting into the proper, powerful position at the top. Unfortunately, numerous golf instructors teach their students how to do the exact incorrect movements I demonstrate in the video and it has hurt many golfers games and their wallets. This video will dispell some of those myths and show you to properly transfer your weight for maximum power and efficiency.
- Weight Shift Part 3 - To the LeftThe culmination in the three part series on correct weight shift in the golf swing gets us off the right side and loaded onto the left glute. This video shows how to correctly and safely shift your weight to the left in the golf swing. The activation of the right muscles is critical for stability and the application of power from the rest of the kinematic chain. Al Consoli of Rotary Swing Golf demonstrates the proper movements while Chuck Quinton discusses the movements, drills and exercises to train your brain how to move correctly.
- 5 Minute Golf Setup w/ Weight ShiftOnce you've mastered the setup, you can add weight shift to your program to begin developing the motor skills needed for one of the most important aspects of the golf swing.
RST Move 1 - The Takeaway
- Posture's Effect on the TakeawayPosture at address is something that Tiger Woods always does right and it's something that can be done right everytime by all golfers. However, once you setup to the golf ball correctly, you must ensure that your equipment works with you and not against you. I regularly see that most students have clubs that are too long for them once they are in the correct posture and they are then forced to manipulate the club during the takeaway rather than just glide their shoulder blade as I demonstrated in the Takeaway Video.
- Move 1 - The TakeawayThe takeaway has been described by golf instructors countless ways, so many ways that it's impossible for the average golfer to have any real idea how to take the club back. Think of the fundamentals you may have heard or know about the takeaway and list them out now. Perhaps you said set your wrists early, shift to the right, lift your arms, put your left shoulder under your chin, point the club down the line, etc. The takeaway is a crucial part of the golf swing, but it's not that hard, in fact, it's only 2 inches of movement.
- Right Wrist in the TakeawayThe role of right wrist in the takeaway is often misunderstood and has been the source of much confusion and bad golf swings. In fact, perhaps 90% of the students I see in the first lesson incorrectly use their right wrist during this crucial first phase of the golf swing. Because most golfers are right handed, the right hand tends to dominate the takeaway and put the club in a position where it moves behind the body to early. This gets the club deep and out of sync with the rotating torso and usually creates a very deep position at the top of the swing. In this video, I talk about the specific role of the right wrist and how it gets the club moving back correctly and simply.
- Pushing with the Left SideAn extremely common swing fault, so common that many golf instructors actually teach the swing this way. In this video you'll see why this is bad and how to stop it.
- Head Moving off the BallThis common problem amongst all golfers is a simple fix when you learn to move from the correct side of your body.
- 5 Minutes to Master RotationThis video holds the 5 step pathway to mastering rotation in the golf swing. At the end of this 15 minute video is a workout program for you to follow once you've completed "5 Minutes to the Perfect Setup" and "5 Minute Setup Plus Weight Shift".
- Understanding Shoulder Blade GlideIf you have questions about exactly what the shoulder blade glide is or what it should feel like, this video is the answer.
- How Posture Effects the SwingPosture has an amazingly profound effect on numerous aspects of the golf swing, none of the least of which are injury and power transfer. In this video, I discuss how a simple bio-feedback device can help you develop perfect posture and look like Tiger Woods at address everytime!
- 5 Minutes to the Perfect TakeawayThis 30 minute long video is key to setting you on the right path for the entire golf swing. Once you've mastered setup and rotation, work on your takeaway and see yourself in positions you always struggled to attain in less than 5 minutes!
- Role of the Right Arm - TakeawayCollapsing the right arm early is something that at least 90% of amateur golfers struggle with that I see on a daily basis. It is crucial that you understand what the right arm should do during the backswing and how vital it is to keep it straight long into Move 2.
- The Bucket DrillThe Bucket Drill is one that provides a very simple and clear picture on how to rotate correctly in the backswing and how to avoid tilting and the dreaded right hand above the left during the takeaway.
- Unleash Your Thumbnail for PowerArm and wrist rotation is vital in producing club head speed in the golf swing. If you would like to learn a simple trick to pick up 10 yards and increase your potential for lag (clue: it involves your right thumbnail) watch this Rotary Swing Tour video now.
- 4 Square DrillYou probably overuse your hands during the first half of the backswing, like most golfers, and yank the club behind you almost immediately. This one move can be disastrous and lead to countless swing problems. Even if you avoid it during the takeaway, there's a good chance you get "too deep" by the time you're at the top of your swing. Either way, the simple drill in this new video has got you covered.
RST Move 2 - The Backswing
- Move 2 - Completing the BackswingOnce you've mastered the setup, weight transfer and takeaway (Move 1), it's time to progress to the top of the backswing. Move 2 is really a tiny move, for some it will feel like the smallest move they make, yet everyone is so concerned with their position at the top that they often ignore common mistakes on the way there. In this video, we show you how simple the movement really is to achieve a position as good as Tiger Woods at the top of the backswing. However, make sure you have mastered the takeaway before moving on to Move 2.
- Understanding Shoulder ElevationAt the request of members from the forum, Al Consoli has put together this great video on understanding shoulder elevation during the backswing. So many golfers get their arms buried deep behind their chest during the takeaway and that leads to numerous swing faults. Understanding how simple it is to have an on plane takeaway and just how small the movements really are will be a revelation to many after watching this video. If you've struggled with getting across the line at the top of your swing or getting the club working too deep behind you, this video will change the way you think of the arm movement in the backswing forever.
- Creating a Swing PlaneSo many golfers struggle with their ball striking because they misunderstand the concept Ben Hogan made famous - swing plane. There are two basic ways to create a swing plane and one is correct and the other is not. 90% of golfers do it the wrong way. Swing plane is a by product of three basic body movements that you will see in this video that create an ideal swing plane without you ever giving it a thought. Study this video closely and you will finally understand how to properly create a PGA Tour caliber swing plane.
- Right Arm DrillThis is an excellent drill to train your mind to use your torso rotation to move the club rather than swinging your arms around the body.
- OverswingingSwinging past parallel and across the line at the top is a very common problem with a very simple fix - biomechanically speaking.
- Maintaining Knee Flex - The AnchorAn all too common swing fault for millions of golfers is to come out of their posture, or lose their spine angle, during the downswing. This "early extension" is something that not only robs the golfer of control and power, but places the golfer at potential risk for injury in the lead hip and lumber spine (low back). Unfortunately, most golfers and even instructors don't understand the biomechanical causes of this common fault, or how to fix it.
- RST Necktie DrillAxis tilt is a necessary fundamental of the golf swing that many golfers ignore or fail to understand the consequences of not having it, especially at the top of the backswing. This simple yet profoundly effective drill will show you exactly how to have the proper amount of tilt at the top.
- Load Right Leg in Golf for Stability, SafetySome members from the forum have asked the question, "If you're not going to push off the right side in the downswing, then why bother loading the right glute?" It's a very good question and I answer it in this video.
- Torso, Hips Over Rotating in BackswingHow much shoulder turn is too much and how much is not enough? Depends on how it's measured... At some point you need to understand shoulder blade protraction and how it helps the hips from over turning.
- 5 Minutes to the Perfect BackswingOnce you've mastered the takeaway using our "5 Minutes to the Perfect Takeaway" video, you're ready to begin the process of building the perfect top of the backswing position that even Tiger Woods would envy. Completing the backswing, in many ways, is simply continuing the movements that we did during the takeaway. In this instructional video, we'll introduce right elbow flexion, the position of the right elbow at the top and the internal rotation of the left arm (all for right handed golfers - if you're a lefty, simply switch right for left).
- RotaryConnect BackswingLearn how to use the RotaryConnect to assist you in building the perfect backswing.
- Keep the Right Arm Straight to TurnOne of the most common faults that destroys a powerful turn in the golf swing is how the right arm works in the backswing. In this video, I go over how the right arm works properly in the backswing and how it impacts the rotation of the torso.
- Checkpoints - 5 Minutes BackswingIf you who have already watched the complete 5 Minutes to the Perfect Backswing video, this is a great practice tool which accompanies that video. Creating the proper backswing positions will allow you to hit the ball dead solid and bomb your drives. Watch the full length video available to Premium Members and use this video as a refresher to help your practice sessions.
- Fix Flying Elbow to Get On PlaneFind out how to improve and overcome your flying right elbow! Includes a test to help you determine the right steps based on your abilities, stretching exercises, and a necessary adjustment if you have a limited range of motion.
- How Much Shoulder ElevationIt's time to help you decide how to power your golf swing. And it all starts with how you use your arms in the golf swing going back. In this video, I go in depth on how the amount that the arms move vertically during the backswing directly impacts how you will be able to and should power your downswing, no matter how you swing the golf club. Check out the video now because the consequences of using leverage or rotation improperly can be disastrous!
- Load Rt Glute: Shorten Golf Swing, Start TransitionYou're going to find out an easy way to shorten your golf swing. In fact, if you practice what’s in this video, you simply won’t be able to overswing. You’ll also find yourself in a much more powerful position to transition into the downsing.
RST Move 3 - The Downswing
- Move 3 - The DownswingMastering the setup, weight transfer and takeaway are critical to a great golf swing. But mastering the downswing is the most important and the most challenging of all. Because it happens so fast and requires so much precision, mastering Move 3 will be the crux of learning to become a great ball striker. Be patient with it, the rewards are many and great! However, don't focus on the downswing until you can properly transfer your weight and perform a proper takeaway as these key pieces setup of the downswing.
- 9 to 3 DrillThe 9 to 3 Drill is the key to working on the Rotary Swing Tour while on the range actually hitting balls. While it is much quicker to create new movement patterns without the distraction of hitting a ball and swinging a club, at some point you must begin transitioning to the real world and this is THE drill to guide you through the transition.
- Getting Stuck on the DownswingTiger Woods used to always complain about getting "stuck" in the downswing; a position that had the club approaching the ball too far from the inside and lead to a block or a flip hook. Over the years, he's made several changes to combat this and I'm going to talk about the primary move that helps all golfers avoid this dreaded feeling. I'm using tour professional Skip Kendall as the example of what "not" to do.
- Throw the Ball DrillThis is THE key drill for really understanding how the downswing sequencing works. This 20 minute long video is one of the most important on the site.
- Right Arm Only Downswing DrillOnce you've worked with the Throw the Ball Drill, you'll want to begin mastering this much more challenging drill and hitting balls with your new found club head speed.
- Left Arm in the Downswing (LADD)A lot of golfers don't understand how the arms work in the golf swing. That's why I have spent a great deal of time talking about the right arm to this point but not as much talk about the left arm. The left arm has an equally important role to perform in the golf swing, perhaps even more so in that it directly controls the club face through impact. The right arm's job is primarily speed and support of the left arm whereas the left arm controls trajectory and direction. In this 20 minute long video I discuss how the left arm works in the downswing to both prevent injury to the left elbow which is a very common golf swing injury and to maximize control by understanding how the left arm should be rotated and positioned at impact, as well as the left wrist. The left arm downswing drill is also covered in two phases, both without a golf club and with a golf club that will allow you to master these impact positions that are so vital for directional control. The topic of getting stuck in the downswing and how the incorrect movement of the left shoulder easily creates this dreaded feeling is also covered as well as how the left shoulder works to get into the proper impact position.
- Hip Speed and Hand SpeedHow fast should the hips and hands move in the golf swing? Can the hips move "too fast" in the down swing? Will moving the hips faster move the clubhead faster?
- Hip Spinners - Belt Buckle DrillUnderstand the key differences between how the hips turn in RS1 vs RST and how to move efficiently in the golf swing. If you struggle hitting fairway woods off the deck, this video can help you understand why and teach you how to really compress the ball.
- Level Shoulders at ImpactFor hip spinners, this drill will help you hit the ball more solidly than ever before. If you also have a high left shoulder into impact, or too much secondary axis tilt, this drill will save your back while helping you compress the ball properly.
- Sitting Into the Left SideAs you begin to work on the transition, one of the most challenging aspects for most golfers in the golf swing, you'll want to spend a significant amount time practicing with this drill. It is critical for getting into a solid impact position, protecting your back and hip and generating power.
- Role of the Right Foot in DownswingFootwork is a bit of a misnomer in the golf swing but you hear it every week on TV. What is it and how do you do it? This video shows you the critical importance of what the right foot should do in the downswing and why.
- Key to Creating LagThe secret key to creating lag has been an elusive thing for most amateur golfers. In this video, I show you the key to producing tons of lag and the one key movement that is detrimental to losing lag.
- Golf Swing Release DrillThis video is crucial for teaching you how to conserve energy in the early stages in the swing and then learning to unleash some serious speed with minimal effort through impact.
- RotaryConnect Hip StabilityBuild an incredibly powerful and stable base using the RotaryConnect.
- The Tiger SquatOne of Tiger Woods' most powerful and wrongfully criticized moves in his golf swing. Learn how this move helps stabilize the hips and build power in the golf swing.
- Squaring the Club FaceLearning how to properly square the club face at impact is something that most amateur golfers struggle with for as long as they play the game. They have no idea that the best players in the world have a simple secret that makes a square club face at impact simple to reproduce time and time again.
- Impact Alignments Face OnAfter all your hard work on the backswing, it's time for the big payoff! Getting into the proper impact alignments is the final step to hitting the best golf shots of your life and this video tells all from the face on view, even which muscles to use!
- Impact Alignments Down the LineAs I discussed in the video on Impact Alignments Face On, impact is everything in RST. All the work we do at setup, the takeaway, the backswing, etc. is all to lead to tour caliber impact position to produce powerful, penetrating golf shots. In fact, you can do a lot of things technically wrong in the swing and arrive at a perfect impact position everytime and still play great golf. The key is that all things we work on in the setup, backswing, etc. make achieving this ideal impact position more repeatable with less effort.
- Left Hand Golf Club Release DrillLearning how to release the left hand properly in the downswing is truly one of the key factors that separates the 80s, 90s and 100s shooters from those who can consistently shoot in the 70s. It is such a core fundamental that I make many of the tour pros I work with do nothing but hit balls with their left hand only for several weeks until it is properly trained. Their reward for this effort is flat, penetrating golf shots that can fly through any wind with minimal effort.
- Losing the Tush LineOne of the most common questions I get regularly is how to stop losing the tush line, or stop standing up and losing the spine angle through impact. This video shows you how to fix it.
- 5 Minutes to the Perfect DownswingAll the work you've done on your RST golf swing to this point has culminated in this next set of drills in the "5 Minutes to the Perfect Downswing" video. As with the other "5 Minutes to..." videos, a specific sequence and set of drills that can easily be done in your home or office is laid out in a simple to follow and easy to understand program that only takes a few minutes per day to get you moving forward and engraining the proper movement patterns.
- Downcock Pump DrillEvery golfer wants to know how to create more lag in their swing to hit the ball further. With this one simple drill I guarantee you'll have more lag in 5 minutes than you ever dreamt possible.
- Transition DrillMost instructors consider the transition the most difficult, if not impossible, aspect of the swing to teach. When you understand the underlying biomechanics and purpose of the movements, it makes it simple to break it down into the RST learning program that will allow you to revolutionize your swing in just a couple weeks of doing these drills.
- Squeeze the CheeksThe glute muscles (your butt cheeks) are some of the most important muscles in the golf swing. Without understanding how to use your glutes properly, you will struggle with consistency your entire golfing life.
- Knuckles Down - Logo DownThe typical amateur golfer has no idea how to control the trajectory of the golf ball. They hit weak, high floating golf shots that get beat up by the wind and make it harder to control distance. In this video I reveal the SECRETS I teach you exactly how to low penetrating missiles with any club in the bag.
- Lose the Right HandLearn how to release the club properly to more easily square the face and add clubhead speed.
- Baseball Pitchers - Golf TransitionMost comparisons between golf and baseball involve analysis of a baseball hitter's mechanics, but you can learn just as much watching the throwing motion. For example, if you're already familiar with the RST, you understand that a pitcher's weight shift helps provide power, just as it does in the golf swing. What you may not have noticed, though, is how important the golf transition concept of "separation" is to a major league fireballer.
- Drawing the BallOnce you've mastered the RST swing method, you realize that, due to the simplicity of the swing, controlling and manipulating ball flight is very simple.
- Hitting a FadeLearning how to hit a fade is all about learning to control the release of the golf club. This is made easier by being in the proper position at the top to keep the face slightly open through impact.
- 5 Minutes to the Perfect Golf Club ReleaseReleasing the club properly is something that few golfers do but is the key to effortless power and squaring the clubface through impact. If you've wondered how to hit a draw your entire life, this multi-step drill will make drawing the ball and controlling trajectory simple. The drill is challenging at first, so hang in there, it will take time to perfect and train the movements.
- How the Lower Body WorksStruggle with coming over the top or don't know how to use your lower body in the golf swing? This video explains the sequencing of the lower body and gives you two key drills to teach you exactly how to build a powerful lower body movement.
- Right Arm Release in Golf SwingWant more speed with less effort? Then this is THE key video to understand how to pummel the ball without even trying.
- Trace the Plane LineDo you tend to get "stuck" in the downswing? Do you hit blocks and quick hooks? Do you want to get the ball to start on your intended target line and stay there?. Improper and overly aggressive use of the body is typically the cause. In this video, I give you a simple drill and very important fundamental for the arms that you can work on both at the club and at home to start hitting perfectly straight shots.
- Left Elbow Position at ImpactFind out a simple trick to hit straighter shots while also virtually eliminating your chances of developing "golfer's elbow." As a bonus, you'll find your shots flying on a more penetrating trajectory.
- Maintain Posture - Merry Go Round DrillOne of the biggest differences between touring professionals or good amateurs and higher handicap players is posture in the downswing. Maintaining it is crucial for consistent ball striking. The Merry Go Round drill teaches the proper feeling of keeping the hips back and the chest down when transitioning from the top of your swing into the downswing.
- Risk of Using Divots for FeedbackThere's an old saying in golf instruction that goes, "the divot tells you everything you need to know about a golf shot." If you've got a nice, square, shallow divot then the ball went long and straight, right? Not so fast my friends!
- Taking a Divot in Front of the BallTaking a proper divot is something that is critical to crisp and consistent iron play, but if you don't know what a proper divot is, it's tough to know when things go wrong. In this video, I give you a drill to teach you how to get your divots in front of the golf ball at impact.
- 9 to 3 Lag Building DrillsWatch a smashing good demonstration of why you shouldn't try to hold lag! Then work through a step-by-step series of progressive drills that Clay, the Lag Doctor, uses to make good on his guarantee to improve his students' lag.
- Lag and Speed DrillsTo get more distance in golf, you've got to get maximum speed from your arms and not let your body overpower them. This video has the drills to amp up your speed!
- Exaggerated Lag | Hands Ahead at ImpactYou already know that the pros compress the ball by having their hands ahead at impact. You've just always struggled to do it! In this new video, I'll show you a great drill to: Finally achieve forward shaft lean at impact; Dramatically increase your lag; Hit solid, penetrating shots that "hiss"!
- Stop Coming Over the Top and SlicingYou're well aware that slicing destroys your distance and your scorecard. What you may not be aware of is what really causes this move and the 2 relatively simple steps to fix it. That's why you MUST watch this video. Simply put, it's the best I've ever produced to teach you how to stop coming over the top in your golf swing!
- Blocked Golf Shots | Fwd Shaft LeanIf you want to compress the ball for explosive distance, then you need to be working on striking your ball with forward shaft lean. But sometimes we run into some problems like blocked golf shots. In this video, I'll show you the 2 missing pieces to forward shaft lean. You'll find out: 1) What's causing your blocks and 2) What you need to work on that will allow you to hit pure shots with plenty of distance.
RST Move 4 - The Follow Through
- Move 4 - The Follow ThroughThe follow through is a result of all things you've done in your golf swing up until this point rather than some position or move you are trying to achieve. However, it holds the secrets to check whether or not you performed many of those moves correctly. In this video, you will see all the key checkpoints for the follow through, referred to as Move 4 in the Rotary Swing Tour model.
- Move 4 - Common FaultsThe completion of the golf swing has several key check points that will allow you to see whether you are performing the downswing with maximum efficiency and power.
Bomb Your Driver Bonus Series
- How to Hit 300 Yard DrivesHow to hit 300 yard drives and learn to bomb it off the tee! Golf instruction articles and videos!
- Using a Launch MonitorArticle that teaches you how to use a launch monitor and how to understand the numbers it provides so you can maximize your distance off the tee.
- Understanding Ball SpeedWhen it comes to maximizing your driver distance, there is only one place to look first - contact. Where you are hitting the ball on the face of the driver is the NUMBER 1 determinant on how far you will hit the ball. Granted, without a fast clubhead speed you won't hit the ball very far, but you can have all the clubhead speed in the world and miss the sweet spot by a 1/4" and lose 20+ yards on your drive. Hit the ball in the center of the club face with reasonable launch parameters, which I will discuss in detail throughout the series, and you can hit the ball very far with less speed. So, let's talk some science....
- Clubface Roll - Affect of LoftThere are numerous things that affect the overall distance you will hit your drives and one of the biggest factors is not your golf swing, it's your equipment. Today's modern high performance drivers are far more advanced then drivers of just 10 years ago, but some old "technology" remains the same. In this video, I am discussing the effect of the "roll" designed into the clubface and how it can dramatically help or hurt your driving distance.
- Driver Sweet SpotIn the first two videos in the "Bomb Your Driver" series I discussed the extreme importance of hitting the ball on the sweet spot of the driver and understanding the true loft of your club. In this next installment, prepare to have your eyes opened to the truth about the so-called driver "sweet spot". This term gets loosely thrown around a lot and there is a lot of misinformation out there. So to start, let's dispel some myths about the driver sweet spot that the club manufacturers would like for you to believe.
- Driver Launch AngleWhen it comes to the science of longer drives, few things have as dramatic an impact on overall distance as launch angle. Simply put, the launch angle (LA) is the angle at which the ball sets flight in relation to the ground or level surface. It is NOT simply the loft angle stamped on the bottom of your clubface! While loft has the biggest impact on LA, Angle of Attack (AoA), the shaft and head design and weighting are also determinants in LA.
- Optimum Spin RateIn the first three videos in the "Bomb Your Driver" video series, I spent time discussing the key aspects of how to strike and launch the ball for maximum speed and distance. In this video, I discuss spin rates in conjunction with Launch Angle, and how the two are directly connected for getting you maximum distance off the tee. Using the an average of clubhead speed of 95 mph, you can see in this video how you can consistenly pick up 60 yards, yes, 60 yards off the tee by combining all the knowledge of the videos in the "Bomb Your Driver" series.
- Golf Grip's Effect on LagAs you've no doubt seen, my golf students have been picking up some serious distance through my unique driver fittings that combine instruction and technology to help golfers gain 30+ yards in one session. One of the things that gets attention during these sessions is the grip and how it affectes that amount of lag the student has in the downswing as well as the tension level during the transition. In this video, I discuss some of the key points about the left hand grip and how it affects lag and tension. It is critical to understand the biomechanics of the wrist joint and the bone structure allows you to create leverage for maximum power with minimal effort.
- Driver Center Of GravityModern driver head design is an exact science with powerful CAD software being used by every manufacturer these days. With these powerful software applications, the center of gravity (COG) can be moved up and down, forward and back to dramatically alter the performance of a golf club. This video focuses on the COG because it impacts where the ball should be struck on the face for maximum performance.

Tiger Woods
- Tiger Woods Setup PositionAnalysis of Tiger Woods address position after working with Hank Haney
- Tiger Woods TakeawayUnderstand how Hank Haney changed Tiger Woods takeaway in this article.
- Tiger Woods DownswingLearn how Tiger Woods downswing has changed under Hank Haney.
- Tiger Woods Backswing w/ Hank HaneySee how Tiger's backswing changed from when he worked with Butch to working with Hank Haney.
- Tiger Woods Swing DynamicsTiger Woods' golf swing is a swing that is marveled by all. We all think to ourselves, "If my swing just looked like his, I'd be on the PGA Tour." Let me assure you, you wouldn't! How do I know? Let's take a look.
- Tiger Woods Swing with Hank HaneyTiger Woods has gone through some pretty incredible swing changes in the 10 years he has been on the PGA Tour. It's truly been exciting and awe-inspring to watch. When Tiger first came out on Tour, his swing looked very different. Jim Hardy referred to his swing as "One Plane" at that time and you can certainly see some one plane traits in him back then. His swing was much shorter and very aggressive, especially with his upper body rotation. He really hit hard with his body to get distance and he also struggled with control of distance and trajectory because of this extreme body speed and the amount he "pushed" from the right side (watch the "Push vs. Pull" video for more info).
- Tiger Woods SwingTiger Woods golf swing analysis
- Tiger Woods Swing Changes - Sean FoleyTiger Woods has made many swing changes with Sean Foley are potentially harmful for your health! As this video discusses, there are two key moves that Tiger is working on that put unnecessary stress on the lead hip and spine.
- Tiger Woods Swing AnalysisFind out how Tiger creates big time club head speed (and how you can too)! While Tiger's new swing may have moved away from some of our RST principles, there's still a lot he does right. So, I put together this video analysis of Tiger's swing that not only explains Tiger's power move in great detail, but all this as well: How he creates fantastic width in his backswing, Where injuries may start to show up for Tiger, Which move he makes that works well for him but could kill your distance.
- Tiger Woods' Swing Lagthis new video focuses on how he creates something you desperately want: Lag. And lots of it. You're going to find out the key moves in Tiger's swing that allow him to create powerful lag. But the most important part of the video highlights the mental hurdle that trips up most people when it comes to creating lag. I finish by giving you a guide to and clips from the 4 most important videos on our site for implementing the swing changes you need.
- Tiger Woods Swing Shape | Multiple AnglesIn the video below, I use 3 different viewing angles to break down Tiger Wood's golf swing and show you how to generate more speed and distance. Lag and release is where Tiger gets his power, and now you can, too.
Rotary Hitter
- How to Chip - Basic Golf Chip StrokeNow it's time to put in the beginning leg work of learning the hitter stroke and impact position. There's no better way to do this then with practicing chip strokes as demonstrated in this video. The importance of the flat left wrist in the Push Release that is demonstrated in this golf stroke is of utmost importance and will enable a whole new world of ball control once grooved in your swing. Take your time with these strokes and pay very close attemtion to the position of the left and right wrists through impact during the slow motion sequences at the end. Note how the left wrist NEVER breaks down, but rotates at the end to allow for the release of the momentum of the club on the longer strokes.
- Hitter BackswingThe correct motion and feel in the right arm in the backswing of the Rotary Hitter is essentially one of the most important aspects necessary to develop a sound swing. The difference between the right arm in the Hitter and Rotary Swinger is significant, basically opposites to a large degree. In this video, the differences are discussed and the right arm for the Hitter is discussed in detail.
- Shoulder Turn and Right ArmIn this golf instructional video, we discuss the differences of the shoulder turn and right arm motion for the Rotary Hitter vs. the Rotary Swinger. The differences are quite significant as the arms are actively used in the Hitter motion and the more compact nature of the shoulder turn allows for this to happen. Because these differences are so significant, it can be challenging to mix the two, so it's best that you understand the key thoughts that go with the shoulder turn in the Hitter stroke and how to correctly apply speed and power with the right arm if you are a Hitter.
- Hitter TakeawayIt's critical for the Rotary Hitter to get the golf swing started off on the right foot and that all begins with the takeaway. If the takeaway is off, the entire shot could be wrecked just by making some simple mistakes. What kind of mistakes? The most common mistakes are for the club to be too shut going back and too shallow. If the club works back beneath the plane, hooks and blocks are very common. If it works back too shut, the ball is likely to start off line and never return. These two faults, as well as the spine angle at address, swing plane and top of the swing position are all discussed in this video for the Rotary Hitter.
- Hitter vs. SwingerThis video is unique in that it provides 4 different views of the Rotary Hitter Golf Swing in action - Face on, down the line, from the rear and up the line. It also goes in depth explaining the differences between the Rotary Hitter and Rotary Swinger. It discusses how and why the takeaway is not as inside and shut as it is in the Rotary Swing and how this aids in releasing the golf club through impact for speed for the Hitter.
- Hogan - Pure Ball StrikerThe Rotary Hitter has a very distinct set of fundamentals that differ significantly from the Rotary Swinger and as such, there are different swing drills and simple training aids that allow the Hitter to groove the different swinging motion. In this golf instruction video, the throwing motion of the right arm is discussed and in particular, the pressure that a Hitter should feel in the first joint on the index finger of the right hand. Fortunately, a very inexpensive and simple training aid has been created for the development of this feeling.

- Perfect Putting TechniqueIf you want to be one of the natural putters who seems to make everything he looks at, this video's for you! You just need to know how to let your body naturally move the putter. There's really only 3 basic movements to focus on when learning the putting technique. The great thing about them is they're all really simple and perfectly aligned with how your body wants to move
- How to Read GreensIn this Premium Video, I'll teach you how to find a straight putt on any hole in a matter of seconds. You'll be forced to test your green reading by rolling a few balls to determine if you were correct. If you want to learn how to read greens and sink the winning putt every time, this video is a must!
- Roll Putts Smoothly - Putting MatDid you realize that you can hit a putt with perfect speed and perfect line and still miss it? Yep, if you don't put a good roll on your putt, you're sabotaging everything else. In this new video, you'll find out several ways to protect yourself from this frustrating fact.
Performance Putting
- How to Putt - Hand DominanceDetermining whether you are right or left hand dominant in your putting stroke is one of the most important aspects to learning how to putt and rolling the ball like a pro. In this video, golf instructor Chuck Quinton discusses the importance of monitoring the putter face angle through impact with the dominant hand in order to start your putts online.
- Putter Face AngleUnderstanding exactly what the face angle of the putter should be doing throughout the stroke is a hotly debated and widely misunderstood concept in the putting world. In this video, using the Laser Line Putting Training Aid (available in our online store) we show you exactly how the putter face works throughout the stroke and disspell the misconception of the face remaining square throughout.
- Pendulum Putting StrokeHow many times have you heard that the putting stroke should be like a pendulum and wondered just exactly what that means? In it's simplest terms, think about the "pendulum" aspect of the putting stroke meaning that the radius of the arc remains constant throughout the stroke. In laymen's terms, that means that the distance from your sternum to the sweetspot on the putter never changes. Imagine a grandfather clock with its pendulum swinging and you get the idea. But more importantly, WHY do we want a pendulum type stroke?
- Forearm Alignment in PuttingIn my opinion, when it comes to putting, the alignment of the shaft and the forearms is one of the most important fundamentals to a consistent putting stroke. In this video, I discuss how to achieve that alignment with the proper grip that neutralizes the hands in the putting stroke. With this stroke and grip, the right hand has far less tendency to get "yippy" and avoid pulled putts and poor speed.
- Putting Distance ControlWhen you hear many of the PGA Tour professionals discuss putting, invariably distance control is one of the most common topics that they emphasize. They all have a wonderful sense of distance control, but how do you develop that?
- Putting Drill - Shaft Underarm DrillOnce the proper putting grip and forearm alignment has been established, it's time to nail down that pure putting stroke. The best way to do that is with a 7 iron as can be seen from this video. Using the 7 iron as to tie together the movement of your shoulders and arms, your stroke will instantly become more unified and simple. This is THE quickest way to improve your putting and will show instant results, and best of all, it can be done indoors or out.
- How to Putt - Acceleration DrillThere are few things worse in golf than hitting a huge drive off the tee, wedging it to 8 feet and then completely missing the hole with your putt. To make it worse, your playing partner just skanked a drive into the trees, skulled his second into the bunker, chunks his bunker shot to 15 feet and then drains it for par. You both walk off with 4's, but it feels like you should have had him by atleast a couple; tis is golf. But, learning how to becoming a better putter to compliment your better rotary swing ball striking is very simple and I've found the absolute perfect training aid to get you on your way in less than 20 minutes of working with it.
- Putter Fitting - Shaft LengthGetting the most important aspects of putter fitting right is easy to do once you understand more what you are looking for. The most common problem I see on a daily basis is people having a putter that is too long for them. When this happens, it forces the golfer into a poor setup that encourages break down during the stroke and even the yips. Simply understanding how to setup correctly will go a long way to improving your putting and getting you setup with a putter that is perfect for you.
- Right Hand Only Distance Control DrillLearn how to control the distance on your putts and regain a sense of feel and touch on the greens. Also provides a simple training aid to learn to hit the center of the face more often for better distance control. You can order the Sweet Spot 360 in our Online Store.
- Releasing the Putter FaceReleasing the putter face is something that is misunderstood by most of the golfing population. It is a common held belief that the putter face should be looking down the target line during the entire stroke. Of course, that's not possible without manipulating the putter face and bending over to 90* with the upper spine. The putter, just in the normal swing, works on an arc which means the putter face is only looking straight down the target line for a split second at impact and then immediately working left and pointing left of the target.
- How to Putt with Laser Like FocusGet ready to learn my secret trick for how to hole more putts! There are a lot of components to putting - reading the green's slope, speed, grain, etc. While a lot of attention these days goes into these topics, little attention is given on perhaps the most important aspect of putting - the mental approach to focusing your attention. Until now.
Golf Chipping How-To Guide
- How to Chip in Golf - Proper SetupYou can save lots of shots quickly by improving your chipping. By simply getting your setup correct, you can be one of the best chippers you know!
- How to Chip in Golf - Perfect StrokeFind out your 4 keys to the golf chip stroke and become great at chipping!
- Ladder Drill for Distance ControlDramatically improve your golf chipping distance control in as little as 30 minutes with the Ladder Drill!
- RotaryConnect ChippingFix your bad chipping habits and ingrain perfect technique with the RotaryConnect.
- How to Chip - Club SelectionYou've undoubtedly heard the great chipping debate: "Chip with your favorite club every time" vs. "Use different clubs depending on the situation." So, which is right? The video explains the winner and helps you understand how to get the most out of that strategy.
- How to Practice Chipping - Ring GameYou know the best way to lower scores in the short term is to practice your short game. This brings up the dilemma of improving in golf: Playing is fun, practicing is not as fun, and practicing short game is the least fun of all. Well I disagree! Here's one of my favorite practice games to help you prepare to play well in tournaments while having fun at the same time.
- Tiger Woods Chip ShotYou know Tiger used to have a near-model RST swing. While that's changed, his short game mechanics remain fantastic (despite recent struggles due mainly to lack of practice). Find out exactly how he compares to what I've been teaching you in the Chipping How-To Guide. Be sure to watch the video now because you may be surprised by what his wrists do in the backswing of his chipping stroke.
Wedge Play
- Penetrating Wedge ShotsOne of the biggest areas needing improvement in the typical amateur's golf game is how to hit flat, penetrating wedge shots that go the needed distance and stop on a dime. In this video, I discuss the three keys to hitting these crucial scoring shots so that you can get up and down more often from this critical yardage. In the photo below, you can see two of the keys being demonstrated in this 60* wedge shot.
- Downhill Sand / Bunker ShotsHitting sand shots is a scary thing for most golfers. As you'll see in the video, you need to make a few key changes to your setup on the downhill sand shot. Make sure you stay down through the shot and maintain your balance on the slope. It is important to trust that the loft on the club will send the ball up without you having to hit up on the ball.
- Uphill Bunker / Sand ShotsAs you learned from the Short Game DVD, hitting shots out of the bunker is very easy once you learn the few basic fundamentals. But what happens when faced with an uphill lie? As you'll see in the video, the same fundamentals apply, you simply need to understand a couple more things that will make this shot much easier. The swing is the same, only the setup is slightly different.
- Long Bunker / Sand ShotsThe long bunker shot in the 25-30 yard range is considered to be one of the toughest shots in the game of golf. In truth, it's not that difficult of a shot, it just requires the golfer to make a confident, aggressive swing. If you follow the fundamentals from "Short Game Made Simple", you will see that there are only a couple things to consider when playing a long bunker shot.
- Golf Pitching - 30 Yard Pitch ShotsThe 30 yard pitch shot is a very tough one for golfers at all levels. So what is the secret to playing this shot? Well, the first one is to never put yourself in a position where you are faced with this shot. In the 2005 British Open, Tom Watson asked Jack Nicklaus why he didn't try and drive a particular hole after Watson put his tee shot on the green. Nicklaus replied, "Because the 30 yard pitch shot isn't my best." If the best golfer in the history of the game didn't want to face this delicate shot, don't feel bad if you don't feel comfortable playing it either!
- How to Chip - Spinning Chip ShotsOver the years, I've had countless people ask me how I put as much spin as I do on such short chip shots. Well, for the first time, you guys will get a peak at the technique to hit very short shots very softly but with a lot of spin. Most golfers like to come down very steep on the ball which creates a very blunt and sharp blow. The only problem with this is that a lot of speed is required to create spin and on a short shot, you'll simply hit it much too far. But by learning this technique, you'll be able to save par more often around the greens and maybe even amaze your friends in the process!
- Sandwedge Bouncehe amount of bounce on your sandwedge is a key component to your scoring ability around the greens, out of the bunkers and on wedge shots from the fairway. In this video, I explain the differences in the bounce angles on wedges and how it affects your shot making capability.
- How to a Hit Sand Shot Like a ProHitting a bunker shot is literally one of the easiest shots in golf, but to the average amateur it can be terrifying. The fear of blading a shot across the green or chunking it and leaving it in the bunker is enough to paralyze a golfer over the shot and just hoping for the best. But with these three simple keys you'll learn in this instructional video you'll be thinking about hitting it close, not worrying about hitting your playing partner.
- How to Hit Proper Pitch ShotsEven very skilled golfers get terrified around the greens at times. Hit a couple pitch shots fat and lay the sod over the ball or skull one into your playing partners bag and your confidence is shot for the round. This video shows you how to never hit it fat again.
Fitness - Flexibility
- Losing Spine AngleIt's not uncommon for golfers learning the rotary swing to lose their spine angle through impact. No matter how hard they work at it, they always end up coming out of the shot and struggle with making solid contact. With atleast half the golfers I work with, the problem is NOT technique, but a matter of fitness. I'm not talking about how fast you can run a mile, rather I am referring to your golf-specific fitness level.
- Deep Core StretchHaving powerful muscles is useless in the golf swing if they are not supple and flexible. Developing a powerful AND supple core is the key to longer, straighter drives and having less fatigue during the latter stages of a round of golf. Using this simple stretch, you will be able to stretch many of the main core muscles that tend to get tight in golfers.
Fitness - Stability
- Bridge ExerciseThe Bridge Exercise is an excellent exercise for detecting imbalances in these areas and for target strengthening for the one plane swing. It is important that you focus on keeping your hips as high as possible for maximum effect in this exercise.
- Standing on Exercise BallFor the advanced athlete looking for new and unique exercises to further refine his or her balance, performing exercises while standing on a Swiss Ball can help take you to another level. The importance of balance in the golf swing cannot be overstated and using the Swiss Ball can help strengthen many of the muscles in your core and the other smaller, more difficult to work muscles that are crucial for balance.
- Inner Thigh / Hip ExerciseStabilizing the lower body to allow for a powerful rotation is critical for the Rotary Golf Swing. This video helps work the all important hip muscles using a ball that can be squeezed between the thighs. It builds on the previuos two hip exercises, so it is vital that you can perform them correctly FIRST before moving onto this set of 3 more exercises.
Fitness - Strength and Power
- Advanced Picnic Table JumpsThe stability of the lower body is crucial to a powerful and dependable golf swing. It is the foundation for your golf swing and no less important than the foundation of a house. It is your anchor to the ground and as they say in rock climbing, if you ain't got a great anchor, you ain't got nothing. So how do you strengthen the lower body for a one plane swing? I have two excellent exercises in this video for the advanced athlete that if performed just a few times per week will dramatically increase the coordination and control of your lower body.
- Intermediate Leg ExercisesAs you perform these exercises, focus on exploding up with everything you have while maintaining control and rhythm, just as you would in a golf swing. You will only get out of the exercises what you put into them, so don't be afraid to push yourself with some intensity, and as always, be sure to fully warm up before performing these or any other exercises and get your doctor's permission.
- Functional Squat / One Legged ExerciseLearning the Rotary Swing doesn't require a club in your hand, you can learn the correct fundamental movements through exercise and even getting out of bed in the morning! Learning how to move correctly requires time to retrain the brain, and using these two exercises, the Fundamental Squat and the One Legged Balance exercises are core to developing a proper setup and strengthening and training the right muscles.
- Back Stabilizer ExerciseThe first video to deal with something other than the glutes and hips (are you starting to see how important the glutes and hips are to the golf swing yet?!), we deal with the next most important part, the muscles in the back that move the shoulder blades.
- Core Rotation ExercisesIf you've taken the time to do the stabilization exercises, then you are ready to begin the core rotation movement. Without proper stability, accuracy, power and control with any amount of repeatability will be inconsistent at best, so don't skip ahead to this exercise without having done the stability exercises.
