Learn how to control the distance on your putts and regain a sense of feel and touch on the greens. Also provides a simple training aid to learn to hit the center of the face more often for better distance control. You can order the Sweet Spot 360 in our Online Store.

  • The trailing hand - usually the right - is responsible for the feel and touch of the putting stroke
  • A right hand only drill helps you develop this feel and distance control
  • You want just a little bit of hinge in the right wrist and a little bit of release through the putt
  • Once comfortable with the hinge & release, use the Sweet Spot 360 to practice hitting the center of the face consistently
  • Finally, bring the left hand back into the shot without losing the control you have gained with the right

Same question, different day: this drill suggests rocking the shoulders, which really would be to me tilting shoulders with right wrist leverage to help with distance control. ------> or<--------- Are we supposed to turn the shoulders? To me turning feels like I am turning away from the putt and it feels a little weird.

Hello Jason. You are trying to achieve a proper rotation with the spine. The shoulders will rotate back. The term rocking still creates a little shoulder turn. Take a look at Perfect Putting Technique. You want to rotate the shoulders. A little pull back with the trail shoulder blade.

Hello Walter. With lead hand low you are trying to deemphasize the trail hand usage. I would work on it using lead hand, not trail.

Hello Mike. If your dominant hand is your right, but play left. Try using the dominant hand or one that you would normally throw with.

Are we supposed to rotate shoulders around the spine while doing it one handed? I didnt catch if the video stated that. Or just hold still and focus on wrist hinge.

Hello Jarek. The focus will be on the arm. It will be more of just an arm motion, but the shoulders will rotate just slightly or react to it.

Hello Seth. Pain from putting or full swing? If full swing, make sure you are hitting the proper positions in the 3 Functions of the Right Arm in the Advanced Backswing Section. And, the Sledgehammer Video in the Advanced Downswing Section to use the right arm correctly into the strike.

Hello Jon. I am left arm dominant when putting from a right handed perspective. You still want to train that trail hand for some feel. You can work on both hands to get a balance.

I just wanted to run this by you after my big session a day or two ago, a few hours! Even though I am attempting to get more RHS in every aspect of my LHS-dominant game (did attempt RHS hand only, but more tried to just dominate with RHS hand), this seemed to help: I just came up with it. Used a few of my putters/settled on the one with most points of reference, builders' chalk line, and stripe on balls and a direction guide every second putt. Multiple times performed the exact same straight putt a little uphill and about 20 feet, until I GROOVED THE BACKSWING/GRAVITY WEIGHT FORCE/FOLLOW THROUGH until it became almost automatic (particularly length/distance, misses about 18 inches beyond hole.) EVERY OTHER PUTT OF VARYING DISTANCE, ETC. BECAME RELATIVE TO MY REPEATING SAMPLE. The follow through was the most demanding aspect with short putts, particularly downhill. Towards the end of my session, I was putting like a demon, but perhaps this may have been more as a result of time spent, more than my relative technique? I would value your opinion of this.

Time spent working on it, allowed you to develop feel which is one of those areas that is developed only through practice and repetition. The more you went through your session and started to get a feel, I am sure that you were less focused on the amount of energy exerted from either side of the body.
