How to Make Chipping Practice Fun!<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re anything like me, you get tired of practicing the same old stuff day in and day out.\u00a0 You need a way to make improving your golf game fun and interesting.<\/p>\n

You know the best way to lower scores in the short term is to practice your short game<\/a>.\u00a0 This brings up the dilemma of improving in golf:<\/p>\n

Playing is fun, practicing is not as fun, and practicing short game is the least fun of all.<\/p>\n

Well I disagree!<\/p>\n

I actually enjoy practicing the short game more than anything in golf, other than playing in a tournament.\u00a0 Making practice fun is as simple as making a game out of it and will make you a better chipper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m going to show you one of my favorite practice games to help you prepare to play well in tournaments.\u00a0 Before every tournament I would play in, I would always concentrate on this game for at least a few days leading up to the tournament.<\/p>\n

I knew that the difference between winning and losing often comes down to how many times a player can get up and down when missing a green.<\/p>\n

In preparation for an important tournament, I would spend at least 3 hours a day playing this game and similar games to finely tune my overall short game.<\/p>\n

It’s called the “Inside the Ring Game.”<\/p>\n

I just recently created a Premium video for RotarySwing.com that spends several minutes going over this game<\/a>. \u00a0Here, I’ll go over the basics.<\/p>\n

The idea of the game is very simple:<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Pick your favorite club and start with level 1 shots. Level one shots are close to the green. These shots will have very little undulation and will be no more than 10-15 feet off the green. You will chip until you make 4 out of 5 into the ring.<\/li>\n
  2. From there, you will move on to level 2 shots. These shots will be farther from the green and more difficult. There can be slight undulation, and the shots can be as long as 50 feet.\u00a0You will chip until you make 3 out of 5 into the ring.<\/li>\n
  3. Finally, you will practice level three shots. These are the most difficult. These will be bunker shots, shots from a bad lie, behind an obstacle, etc… You will practice these until you make 2 out of 5.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    (Obviously, having a chipping ring training aid will help you immensely with this game. \u00a0You can pick that up in our training aids store<\/a> if you don’t already have one.)<\/p>\n

    Once you have completed level 3, you can start all over with a different club.<\/p>\n

    Using a variety of clubs for chipping<\/a> will allow you to become very versatile and learn how different clubs can work.<\/p>\n

    The best part is that the whole thing is fun. You will enjoy practicing for hours, and your scores will improve!<\/p>\n
