Not in this drill!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re making progress but still want more lag, it&#8217;s time for another\u00a0big leap in your improvement.<\/p>\n<p>The drill below is one of the drills from our latest Premium Video, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/hands-ahead-at-impact-how-to.php\">Hands Ahead at Impact Exaggeration<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all about getting you lag and that <strong>forward shaft lean<\/strong> needed for penetrating shots with less effort.<\/p>\n<p>But beware: This drill may give you too much lag!<\/p>\n<p>I want you to exaggerate the feeling of lag first, and once you feel it, then you can go back and tone it down.<\/p>\n<p>Sound good? \u00a0Then let&#8217;s get started!<\/p>\n<h2>First Step:\u00a0 Lose the Club<\/h2>\n<p>Don&#8217;t worry!\u00a0 We&#8217;ll bring back the club shortly.<\/p>\n<p>But I want you to get the exaggerated feeling of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/creating-golf-swing-lag.php\">lag in your golf swing<\/a> before involving the club.<\/p>\n<p>So, get into your normal swing posture, and swing your left arm back (to about the 9 o&#8217;clock position) while making sure that your wrist stays nice and flat.<\/p>\n<p>Then swing your arm through,<strong> letting your wrist bow<\/strong>, until it&#8217;s about 6 to 8 inches in front of your lead leg.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at the pic below to see what I&#8217;m talking about.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2603\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2603\" style=\"width: 574px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/swing-arm-through.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2603     \" alt=\"lag drill\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/swing-arm-through.jpg?resize=574%2C351&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"574\" height=\"351\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2603\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Let your wrist bow a bit on the downswing as you see here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The back of your left hand will feel like it&#8217;s pointing straight down at the ground.<\/p>\n<p>This will put you in the position of extreme <strong>forward shaft lean<\/strong> that I want you to feel.<\/p>\n<p>On the follow through, make sure that you do this drill with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/golf-swing-weight-shift-to-left-heel.php\">weight on your left side<\/a>. \u00a0(You can even preset your weight on your left side if you want.)<\/p>\n<h2>Add Your Right Hand<\/h2>\n<p>After practicing swinging your left arm through, add your right hand.\u00a0 Throw it into your left hand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2614\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2614\" style=\"width: 573px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/right-hand.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2614 \" alt=\"lag drill\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/right-hand.jpg?resize=573%2C410&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"573\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/right-hand.jpg?resize=31%2C22&amp;ssl=1 31w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/right-hand.jpg?resize=38%2C27&amp;ssl=1 38w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 573px) 100vw, 573px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2614\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Throw your right hand into your left.
