{"id":265,"date":"2012-12-05T15:13:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-05T15:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/?p=265"},"modified":"2017-12-29T02:15:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-29T07:15:44","slug":"chipping-how-to-guide-tiger-woods-chipping-analysis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-lessons-blog\/chipping-how-to-guide-tiger-woods-chipping-analysis\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Chip Better: Tiger Woods Chipping Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a title=\"how to chip better\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/shortgame\/spinning-chip-shots.php\">How to Chip Better<\/a> By Studying Tiger Woods Chipping Stroke<\/h2>\n<p>For a long time, you&#8217;ve been troubled by your chip shots.\u00a0 You sometimes hit them heavy and other times thin.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of your swing, you may even feel as though you have developed a &#8220;hitch.&#8221; \u00a0As your club nears impact, your hands tend to jolt, leaving you with uncontrollable results.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the good news is that it\u2019s not your fault. \u00a0It&#8217;s most likely a result of bad advice from a playing partner or even from your golf pro.<\/p>\n<p>For years instructors have told their students to put the ball way back in their stance, to lean the shaft way forward, and to pull the club through impact.<\/p>\n<p>If this is your technique, you&#8217;re going to have trouble escaping your chipping nightmare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is not how the PGA Tour professionals do it. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my latest chipping video, you get an analysis of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/shortgame\/golf-chipping-how-to-guide\/tiger-woods-chip-shot.php\">Tiger Woods&#8217; chip shot technique<\/a>.\u00a0 You\u2019ll see that it&#8217;s very similar to, if not exactly the same as, the RST chipping fundamentals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few of the keys for <a href=\"https:\/\/rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/shortgame\/spinning-chip-shots\">golf chipping<\/a> will be:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Correct ball positioning.<\/strong>\u00a0 By narrowing your stance and putting the ball off the inside of your right toe, the ball will now be muchcloser to the bottom of your swing arc. You will still be hitting down and through, but the angle of attack will become much shallower. This will give you a level of consistency that all your friends will envy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only a little forward shaft lean.<\/strong>\u00a0 A lot of forward shaft lean means your angle of attack will become very steep. This will leave you wanting to jerk through impact in an effort to shallow the clubs path. Somewhere between 2\u00b0 and 5\u00b0 is perfect.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep your left wrist bowed.\u00a0 <\/strong>Perhaps the one piece that causes the most inconsistency is the flipping of your wrist through impact.
