(The drill is best demonstrated in our recent Premium video &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/faultsandfixes\/coming-over-the-top\/golf-over-the-top-drill.php\">Over the Top Stick Drill<\/a>.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<h2>Hookers need not apply<\/h2>\n<p>If you already draw or hook the golf ball, then kindly put down the article and resume as you were. This is for golfers that do not use their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/role-of-left-arm-golf-downswing.php\">left arm in the downswing<\/a> enough.<\/p>\n<h2>Slicers&#8230;come on down, you&#8217;re the next contestant&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>The thing I want you all to take note of before we start is that, in order to make a drastic change to your golf swing, it is best to exaggerate the drill for a bit and then tone it down.<\/p>\n<p>We do this so the body can feel the change and begin the correction process. Remember, all those pesky bad habits have been ingrained into your golf swing for quite some time. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/proper-golf-swing-practice.php\">Retraining the mind and body<\/a> takes time and repetition.<\/p>\n<h2>Time to stick a drill into your bag<\/h2>\n<p>The next time you go to your local driving range, I want you to get some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-training-aids\/tour_sticks\">alignment sticks<\/a>. We&#8217;re going to set up a drill that is going to correct your path and make you swing more inside-out.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start by placing an alignment stick just in front of you, between the ball and the target. Now make some smooth 75% swings with just the left arm and focus on keeping your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotaryswing.com\/golf-instruction\/golfbiomechanics\/level-shoulders-golf-swing.php\">shoulders closed<\/a> as the club swings to the right and up and over the stick.
